| :Never did I say they carried them all. You said they sell a "few", which was obviously an understatement. yes it was an understatement. good : : That's great. I can't laugh harder at what you said. Maybe you should actually call him, and descirbe what you want. Luke isn't a high-pressure car salesman holding a gun to your head. Both times I called him I didn't order tires at the time. I looked around for a better price and better set of tires and couldn't find any so I ordered online from TR. Both times everything Luke stated about the tires he suggested (RE730II, and S-03PP) was accurate. He told me exactly what to expect, and even told me the S-03 would probably be loud and not handle the rain like I wanted them to. i never said he was high pressure. just saying im sure he wouldnt reccommend a tire they dont sell. to me thats baised. and 'loud' is opinion. i still think its silly to base your purchase on one guys opinion. : She might talk to me, but I wouldn't talk to her for long. I could probably tell in a second she had no interest in what she was talking about and I wouldn't waste my time. And how does her statement "its just rubber, who the hell can tell the difference?" give her more experience? If anything it shows she doesn't have a clue about tires. she has "'more experience' than most that feel the need to ask for tire opinions" means she has more experience than most people that need to ask for tire opinions. sound redundant? it is. simple terms - shes driven on more tires than most people. and a large percentage of those tires were on my z32. so, she has more z32 tire experience than most people that need to ask for tire opinions. but, youre right, she doesnt give a shit and probly wouldnt talk to you bout tires. but when someone asks her if she ever heard of such and such tire she replies with "ive driven on it". i count it as uncaring experience : It's been my experience most people will only match those prices, and not beat them; that is if they even accept to match online retailers. Further, Tire Rack in general can drop ship a tire to a shop faster than a shop can get it from their own warehouse! I'm also not aware of any shops that carry 26 sets of different tires for our cars, or who have employees who drive Z32s and routinely run tire test on their own track. Try finding a 245/45R16 S-03PP locally. No one near me carried it, and Tire Warehouse would take a week to get them. I also tried 2 others who didn't even want to match an online retailer, so I didn't even bother checking their stock. i dont know where youre looking at tires then. almost every place by me is more than willing to beat tirerack prices, in fact they advertise it on thier boards outside! not meet, beat...and my shop stocked 245/45/16 so3s for awhile. i ordered them myself, but we still stocked them at one point. and why on earth would you wait till last minute to order tires? thats silly. if you cant wait a week... : If you know exactly what you want and where to get it, I agree he is useless for you. But for those of us who don't know exactly, or want some guided suggestions he's great. This whole post wasn't about "why Dogpile should call Luke at Tire Rack", but how the average enthusiast could benefit from Luke.
the average enthusiast *should* prefer a collective of opinions rather than one persons. if i knew nothing of tires i would rather see 10+ opinions than just asking one sales guy, regardless of how many hes tried. what if his idea of loud is way too loud for you? what if he can drive better in the rain than you, so "not too bad in the wet" for him is complete shit for you? with more than one person saying their piece, you can form your own conclusions and take an average if needed. for example, i dont think the t1s are loud are all. i know a few people that find them unbearable. that would have done them no good, right? if they only asked my opinion, they would have a 'loud' tire they didnt want. and the whole deal with kuhmos. a ton of people hate them, yet a large sum of people are happy with them. what if you called one person and he happened to love them? you get them, and you are one of the people that hate them. what now? if you asked a bunch of people, you would have gotten some negative feedback, which as anyone knows, is just as important to maknig a purchase as positive. if you dont consider the 'bad' points of anytihng before you buy, then whatever, good luck to you in life : Great! Maybe we'll chat sometime. I like S-03PP, and if you say the t1-s is better I might give them a try. I have a clear open mind and take other's experiences and knowledge to heart. You should try it sometime. :Party on. i dont say theyre better. in fact i like the s03s, i just dont like them as much as the toyos. they are better to me . if i was still working where i did and said flat out the toyos were better, im sure youd call me baised. i could get any tire, just maybe not as cheap as tirerack, and if you ask some people, i sent them there for those tires. but anyway, now that i dont have a connection for toyo i still think they are the best for me. nothing to do with what tire is better (so nobody starts with that crap) im simply trying to say that asking just ones persons opinion is stupid. you get one side of the story, thats it.
 hey, i used to have a z! |
